How to : Black on black summer

How to : Black on black summer
Despite of the fact that i am tropical born and bred, let’s just pretend that i could distinguish summer to any other seasons and dress differently during that time. The fact is, i don’t.But say i could get into the minds of the fellow sub-tropical people, and know what people would want to wear on brighter days. My best bet would be comfortable lightweight clothes, and sandals. Although i’d suggest them to ditch all the summer cliches, and opt for the all-black look instead. I’d also add some on point accessories like watches and sunglasses in the shade of white, as non-verbal cues for “no Ma’am/Sir, i’m not going to a funeral”. Also, one does not simply walk out the door without a structured, practical sling black to carry all their summer necessities. Aaaand, DONE

The Ultimate Collaboration

ALexander wang x HMI mark the time when two of (then) the most influential musicians in my life, Westlife and Sherina teamed up to sing ‘i have a dream’ in 2001 as the highlight of my childhood. Fast forward 13 years later, the feeling can only be compared by putting the only two brand and designer i’ve dedicated a post specifically about in a collaboration.

Alexander Wang x H&M, is Westlife ft. Sherina hysteria all over again!

Virtual Reality

half faceThere were days when i tumblred through the nights, and now i spend all day building a dream home upon a thousand home idea pins. For that reason, if only online hoarding was a paid job, i’d probably be rich.

Internet allows us to see places we never visited, collect clothes we never owned, hang out with celebs who never knew we were alive, and feel the moment we never experienced. Basically creating the life we never had. Although that life only lies within millions of codes in the virtual world, it feels satiating enough that we prefer to  sit in front of the monitor all day instead of actually make our way to it.

Yes i do that, and i plead guilty. Continue reading

So… I Heard You Like Cats?

For the past few years, designers has taken ‘catwalk’ more literally. Cats are invading their catwalks. Well, not literally… but, you’ll see them portrayed in a lot of their designs. If you spend a lot of your time on the internet, you’ll realize that more than ever, cats nowadays might be in their closest status to they were in Ancient Egypt. Maybe this is the reason catwalks are called cat walks in the first place. Because fashion lovers are cat worshipers?

To merge your love for cat and fashion, there’s no need to go all ‘crazy cat lady’. Unless you’re walking on Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2013 Runway of course. Here’s how translate your love for feline friends into four different types of looks

1. EDGY

Like a black cat, if looking intriguing is something you’d like to achieve, then wear something like graphic cat eyeliner, and the soon to be iconic Brian Lichtenberg’s ‘Feline Meow’ sweatshirt. This way you’ll show off your love for feline friends without looking like a cat-human. Leaving a lot of rooms for people to interpret it themselves, and isn’t that exactly the point? edgycat eyefeline

Psychological Test Hits The Runway

dion1

When i came across this collection on the internet, i adore them almost instantly. They may not be from the latest fashion runways (they were, in fact originated back in 2012 spring runway which makes them : so last year… literally), but as a full-time psychology student (and a part time fashion lover), i value them way more than just as fashion pieces. The thing about this collection is, not only they are so aesthetically pleasing, but they were also inspired by rorschach ink blot test. Seeing something i saw only on my text books turned into beautiful fashion pieces gives me goosebumps.
